Mission:
To give professional and technical training, and provide advanced and specialized instruction in literature, philosophy, the sciences and arts, besides providing for the promotion of scientific and technological researches (Sec. 3), extension service to the community and resource generation through its various productive endeavors complement of the University’s mandated instruction-research function.

Goals:
A. To provide quality graduate and undergraduate education in the natural and mathematical sciences.
B. To undertake basic and applied scientific researches that are of high standards and of regional and national relevance.
C. To render technical extension services in support of regional and national scientific and technological development.
D. To pursue sustainable income- generation program to support excellence in instruction, research, and extension.
BS CHEMISTRY PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
A. General Objectives
The BS Chemistry Program aims:
1. To develop scientifically competent professionals with mastery of the fundamental principles and laboratory skills essential for a career in chemistry and its related fields;
2. To promote the establishment of morally and socially-responsible chemistry professionals who will employ their knowledge of chemistry in service of Bicolanos and countrymen;
3. To promote the development of the Bicolano Chemist who will take the lead in developing and managing the quality of products in the various chemical industries of the region and the country;
4. To develop professionals who will initiate and innovate creative strategies in the conscientious transformation of the region’s indigenous resources into more beneficial products with due consideration to the proper care of the environment.
B. Specific Objectives
The BS Chemistry degree aims to provide the students with:
1. Adequate knowledge and understanding of the various classes of chemical substances, both organic and inorganic, with emphasis on their structure, properties, and reactions;
2. Good laboratory techniques and mastery of basic laboratory operations encompassing analytical, instrumental, organic, and physical chemistry;
3. The ability to critically analyze real or theoretical problems and apply learned principles in chemistry in investigating and/or proposing innovative solutions;
4. Understanding of the applications and effects of chemistry in the lives of people and in various fields: agriculture, fisheries, health, industry, and the environment;
5. Training to employ their acquired knowledge and skills in chemistry to the creation and innovation of sustainable, relevant and enterprising technologies for a better quality of life;
6. Scientific, technical, and communication skills to pursue graduate or advanced degrees in chemistry and related fields to become researchers and/or join the academe as professor in chemistry and other related fields.
