GENERAL FORMAT for LAB NOTEBOOKS
- I am preparing a handout for this, but i was not able to complete them. However I am posting the general guidelines here.
Notebook:
Hard Cover (Record Notebook) 50 leaves
Title Page
1st leaf: write your group number, followed by the members of the group with their signature, student number and contact number.
Table of Contents
2nd leaf; Use only the right pages, and page numbering starts after the table of contents.
Lab Report Pages:
Start on the 3rd leaf (page 1);
On each page of the report provide a space for the page number, date/time and lab instructor’s signature (lower right side).

CONTENTS
Title of the Lab Activity
- Include the date/time started and submitted.
Introduction
- 1-2 paragraph long, summarizing the theory/concept of the activity. Include relevant chemistry equations that will be used.
- Write at least two objectives
Methodology
- Make a schematic diagram/flowchart for the activity.
- Paste a print out of the MSDS (material safety data sheet) of the reagents that will be used. Attach them at the last pages of the notebook.
Data and Results
- For the pre-lab, provide data tables.
